SEND LOVE FROM THE EAST COAST

South Shore Box Partners

What began in 2012 with a group of innovative volunteers working collaboratively to  market the South Shore of Nova Scotia  as a tourist destination has taken an innovative step forward by becoming the Province’s first regional tourism co-operative!

The Co-operative’s volunteer Board of Directors act on behalf of more than 40 investing partners from the region and collectively promote more than 200 small businesses, festivals, museums and adventures along one of the most beautiful seacoasts in the world.

Historically, the SSTC works with their partners to promote their businesses with the 'Holiday South Shore Crawl.' This year they had to get a little creative, so the South Shore X Nova Box Holiday Box was born!

Check out these awesome companies from along our beautiful South Shore, and send a little love from the shore!

This box contains:

Summerville Scented Candle - South Shore Candle Co. (Mahone Bay)

Made with all natural soy wax poured into a 12oz apothecary style glass jar, made with 100% essential oils. In an effort to keep their products as pure and natural as possible they do not add any wax stabilizers or additives. As a result over time soy wax colour and appearance may vary slightly from batch to batch.

Frosty Holiday Ornament by Amos Pewter (Peggy's Cove)

For the past 13 years, the friendly faces of volunteers of the IWK Auxiliary have been greeting arriving cruise ship passengers at the Amos Pewter kiosk in the Dockside Shops at the Pier 22 Cruise Pavilion in Halifax.  The success of this partnership has resulted in over $400 000 in funds raised to support the work of the Auxiliary.  This year, Amos Pewter is pleased to be able to donate the proceeds of their new pewter Hug Pocket Charm to the IWK Auxiliary.

Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt Bark by Lunenburg Rum Cakes (Lunenburg)

The youngest of 26 grandkids, in a large Nova Scotian family, she comes from a long line of bakers. At Lunenburg Rum Cakes Ltd. they believe in supporting local, creating quality products, and traditional baking. They hope that their baked goods will not only be enjoyed as a treat but a memory in the making with family and friends.

Orange and Clove Soap by The Seaweed Soap Company (Chester)

This natural soap is made with all natural ingredients and free from dyes and perfumes. Owner Nancy Rhodenizer used to eat kelp for her thyroid issues. Her brother, who has a lease to harvest all the ocean vegetables in the Mahone Bay waters off the Nova Scotia coast, suggested that she make soap and put the kelp in it. She did some research, and found that your skin is your biggest organ, and it absorbs more than what you eat, so she thought she would give it a try, and instantly fell in love with the way it made her skin feel! Scented with essential oils, this soap contains seaweed, kelp and irish moss that are rich in vitamins, minerals, enzymes and amino acids. They contain collagen making the skin feel soft. Minerals enhances skin beauty while threonine improves skin tone. Antioxidants in seaweed increase the body's fat burning ability.

Holiday Tea Towel by The Far Far Away Shop (Mahone Bay)

The Far Far Away shop is owned and operated by Jay Hiltz. Their product line was conceived in 2018 and started as a passion project to create unique decor items for Jay’s five-star rental cottages—Far Far Away Cottages. After multiple guests asked where the items could be purchased, the shop was born. It now focuses solely on flour sack cotton tea towels. The designs are original and draw inspiration from Jay's deep love of the Maritimes and its cultural quirks.

In addition to the shop and the cottages, Jay offers an original clothing line—Nor°easter Apparel. He describes their clothing as #wildlystylish and #ferociouslycomfortable! Jay also owns Small Town Ink Screen Printing Studio and prints both product lines in-house.

Wild Blueberry Jam by Acadian Maple (Tantallon)

From Tree to Table, Acadian Maple Products has been proudly partnering with Maple Harvesters in Nova Scotia to provide you with 100% Nova Scotia Maple for over 35 years. Stepping into their retail and production shop in Upper Tantallon on Peggy's Cove Road is like stepping into the sugar camp - enveloped in the sweet smell of pure maple. More than 30,000 guests visit them annually, with pride they offer tastings and a collection of maple products that are mapleicious!

The pride of Nova Scotia's first agriculture crop of the year, maple syrup, is an important part of the maple harvest. Acadian Maple is the largest purchaser and processor of Nova Scotia produced maple syrup. Exporting to markets here and across Canada, they even reach worldwide, and are constantly developing new products.

In 2019, Authentic Seacoast Company proudly welcomed Acadian Maple  of Upper Tantallon into it's family of handcrafted Nova Scotia companies, keeping the tradition originally started by the Allaway Family going, some 35+ years later.
